Charity is better than Umrah: Depending on Circumstances

Praise be to Allah. Giving charity at a time of need and extreme hunger is of greater virtue than doing a voluntary ‘umrah.  This is because the benefit of ‘umrah is limited to the one who does it, whereas the benefit of giving charity to the needy and the hungry goes beyond the individual, and that of which the benefit spreads further is of greater virtue than that of which the benefit is limited. Ruling on disposing donated material

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: Is it permissible to move a waqf that was given to the mosque, such as a cupboard, if it is too big for the mosque and the mosque has no need of it? He replied: Yes, it is permissible to move the waqf if that serves a greater purpose. If something is not needed in the mosque – such as a carpet, cupboard or anything else – we may move it to another mosque, if possible. If that is not possible, we can sell these things and spend their price on the mosque. But if it belongs to the Ministry of Awqaaf, then they should dispose of it in the way that is most appropriate. Qualities that Allah loves: Hilm( Forbearance) and Deliberation

THE QUALITY ALLAH LOVES!  The ability to control one’s emotions and remain calm and composed is an extremely valuable – and rare – quality. This virtue is known as ḥilm (forbearance), and is a quality for which Allāh praises Ibrāhīm al-Khalīl (‘alayhi al-Salām).  Allāh says in the Qur’ān: إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لَأَوَّاهٌ حَلِيمٌ “Ibrāhīm was tender-hearted and forbearing.”  (Al-Qur’ān, 9:114) Ḥilm refers to the ability to control emotions at a time of a heightened temper and an uneasy mind, calming them both before they spiral out of control. It refers to the ability to stay your hand when you would otherwise have the ability to act immediately when triggered.  It is to avoid the burn of acting during an emotional upsurge. It is to think before speaking and to think before acting. Ibn Ḥibbān said: “Ḥilm is to stay the soul at the onset of something distasteful and to stop it from falling into the prohibited. In order to have ḥilm, you must first have cognisance (maʿrifah), patience (ṣabr

Then the Almighty will say, 'You do not know what they did after you left, they introduced new things into the religion after you.'"
