Surah AI-Baqarah

وَعَلَّمَ آدَمَ الْأَسْمَاءَ كُلَّهَا ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ فَقَالَ أَنْبِئُونِي بِأَسْمَاءِ هَٰؤُلَاءِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ (2:31)

اور اللہ تعالیٰ نے آدم کو تمام نام سکھا کر ان چیزوں کو فرشتوں کے سامنے پیش کیا اور فرمایا، اگر تم سچے ہو تو ان چیزوں کے نام بتاؤ (2:31)

And He taught Adam all the names (of everything), then He showed them to the angels and said, "Tell Me the names of these if you are truthful." (2:31)

قَالُوا سُبْحَانَكَ لَا عِلْمَ لَنَا إِلَّا مَا عَلَّمْتَنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ (2:32)

ان سب نے کہا اے اللہ! تیری ذات پاک ہے ہمیں تو صرف اتنا ہی علم ہے جتنا تونے ہمیں سکھا رکھا ہے، پورے علم وحکمت واﻻ تو تو ہی ہے (2:32)

They (angels) said: "Glory be to You, we have no knowledge except what you have taught us. Verily, it is You, the All-Knower, the All-Wise." (2:32)

قَالَ يَا آدَمُ أَنْبِئْهُمْ بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ ۖ فَلَمَّا أَنْبَأَهُمْ بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُلْ لَكُمْ إِنِّي أَعْلَمُ غَيْبَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَأَعْلَمُ مَا تُبْدُونَ وَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْتُمُونَ (2:33)

اللہ تعالیٰ نے (حضرت) آدم ﴿علیہ السلام﴾ سے فرمایا تم ان کے نام بتا دو۔ جب انہوں نے بتا دیئے تو فرمایا کہ کیا میں نے تمہیں (پہلے ہی) نہ کہا تھا کہ زمین اور آسمانوں کا غیب میں ہی جانتا ہوں اور میرے علم میں ہے جو تم ﻇاہر کر رہے ہو اور جو تم چھپاتے تھے (2:33)

He said: "O Adam! Inform them of their names," and when he had informed them of their names, He said: "Did I not tell you that I know the Ghaib (unseen) in the heavens and the earth, and I know what you reveal and what you have been concealing?" (2:33)

وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا لِآدَمَ فَسَجَدُوا إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ وَاسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ (2:34)

اور جب ہم نے فرشتوں سے کہا کہ آدم کو سجده کرو تو ابلیس کے سوا سب نے سجده کیا۔ اس نے انکار کیا اور تکبر کیا اور وه کافروں میں ہوگیا (2:34)

And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam.". And they prostrated except Iblis (Satan), he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allah). (2:34)

وَقُلْنَا يَا آدَمُ اسْكُنْ أَنْتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَا وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَٰذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ (2:35)

اور ہم نے کہہ دیا کہ اے آدم! تم اور تمہاری بیوی جنت میں رہو اور جہاں کہیں سے چاہو بافراغت کھاؤ پیو، لیکن اس درخت کے قریب بھی نہ جانا ورنہ ﻇالم ہوجاؤ گے (2:35)

And We said: "O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the Paradise and eat both of you freely with pleasure and delight of things therein as wherever you will, but come not near this tree or you both will be of the Zalimun (wrong-doers)." (2:35)

فَأَزَلَّهُمَا الشَّيْطَانُ عَنْهَا فَأَخْرَجَهُمَا مِمَّا كَانَا فِيهِ ۖ وَقُلْنَا اهْبِطُوا بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ ۖ وَلَكُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ مُسْتَقَرٌّ وَمَتَاعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ (2:36)

لیکن شیطان نے ان کو بہکا کر وہاں سے نکلوا ہی دیا اور ہم نے کہہ دیا کہ اتر جاؤ! تم ایک دوسرے کے دشمن ہو اور ایک وقت مقرر تک تمہارے لئے زمین میں ٹھہرنا اور فائده اٹھانا ہے (2:36)

Then the Shaitan (Satan) made them slip therefrom (the Paradise), and got them out from that in which they were. We said: "Get you down, all, with enmity between yourselves. On earth will be a dwelling place for you and an enjoyment for a time." (2:36)

فَتَلَقَّىٰ آدَمُ مِنْ رَبِّهِ كَلِمَاتٍ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ (2:37)

(حضرت) آدم (علیہ السلام) نے اپنے رب سے چند باتیں سیکھ لیں اور اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کی توبہ قبول فرمائی، بےشک وہی توبہ قبول کرنے واﻻ اور رحم کرنے واﻻ ہے (2:37)

Then Adam received from his Lord Words. And his Lord pardoned him (accepted his repentance). Verily, He is the One Who forgives (accepts repentance), the Most Merciful. (2:37)
