Answer of IELTS question :Can you tell me where you live?

*Band 6 - Simple & clear*
Yes, of course. I currently live in Mumbai, in Maharashtra. It’s a large coastal city in western India. I live in an apartment with my family, not too far from the city center. I’ve been living there for about 5 years now.

*Band 7 - More detail & vocab*
Sure. I live in Mumbai, which is the financial capital of India. I stay in a residential area in the suburbs with my parents and younger brother. It’s quite a busy neighborhood, but I like it because everything I need is close by — shops, cafes, and public transport. I’ve lived there since I was a teenager.

*Band 8 - Natural & fluent with range*
Absolutely. I’m based in Mumbai, a vibrant, fast-paced city on the west coast of India. I share a flat with my family in a bustling suburb that’s well-connected by train and bus. What I really appreciate about the area is the mix of convenience and community — there are street markets right outside, yet it still feels like a neighborhood where people know each other. I’ve called it home for as long as I can remember.

*Tips for IELTS Part 1:*
- *Extend a bit*: Don’t just say “Mumbai”. Add 1-2 extra details like who you live with, how long, or what you like about it.
- *Use natural linking*: “which is”, “because”, “although”, “I’ve been…”
- *Past to present*: “I’ve lived there for…” scores well for grammar range.
