Quotes, Status on Knowledge: Don't respond to insult

 A man insulted al-Imām Wakee’, [may Allāh have mercy upon him]. It was said to him: ‘Will you not respond [i.e. refute the one who insulted you]?’

Al-Wakee’ replied: ‘Then why [for what purpose] have we learnt [this] knowledge?’”
