Al-Hasan al-Basri [may Allāh have mercy on him] said:
“Do not resent the calamities which occur and the disasters which occur for perhaps in them are something you may dislike, which will be [the cause of] your salvation, and perhaps in them are something which you prefer which will be [the cause of] your destruction.”
