Ḥasan al-Baṣrī رحمه الله said:
"Read from the Qur'ān what is prohibited for you and if it does not stop you (from committing the prohibitions) then you are not reading it correctly.
Perhaps a person who memorises fiqh (knowledge) doesn't implement what he memorises and for whoever's knowledge does not benefit him, his ignorance harms him."
