Shaykh ul-Islām ibn Taymiyyah [may Allāh have mercy on him] said:
“There is not a single āyah in the Book of Allāh which extols anyone due to their lineage. Nor [is there an āyah] which vilifies anyone.
Certainly, a person is extolled due to his [level of] faith, fear and pleasure [of Allāh] and he who is dispraised, is censured and criticised for his disbelief, outward display of immorality and disobedience [to Allāh].”
