Amazing Story | Story of a Bird and Sufyān ath-Thawrī [rahimahullaah]
Imām al-Dhahabī mentions the following story in his entry for Sufyān ath-Thawrī:
”ʻAlī b. ʻAbd al-ʻAzīz said, Arim narrated to us saying, I went to Abū Manṣūr to visit him, he said to me,
‘Sufyān
resided in this house, and there was here a nightingale belonging to my
son. He (Sufyān) said, ‘Why is this locked up (in a cage)? It should be
freed.’ I said, ‘It belongs to my son, and he gives it to you as a
gift.’ Sufyān said, ‘No, I will give him a dinar for it.’ He said, ‘He
then took it and freed it, and it would go out and return in the
evening, and would be at the far end of the house. When Sufyān died, it
followed his funeral procession and was flying over his grave. After
this on some nights it would go to his grave, and sometimes would spend
the night there, and sometimes would return back home. They then found
it dead by his grave and it was buried alongside Sufyān.”’
..”Our
Lord! Forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us in Faith, and put
not in our hearts any hatred against those who have believed. Our Lord!
You are indeed full of kindness, Most Merciful. 59:10
All praise is for Allaah, Lord of all the Worlds, who ordered us to follow His Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and to call to His Way, and may Allaah send praises and blessings of peace upon our Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), and upon his family, his Companions, and those who truly follow them until the Day of Judgment.
Beautiful Yet Sad Story…
In 1999 Allaah favoured me [Abul Irbaad] and my family with the opportunity to visit the Imaam of Hadeeth, Naasir us-Sunnah was-Salafiyyah, the Allaamah Abu Abdir-Rahmaan Muhammad Naasir-ud-Deen al-Albaanee [d. 1420 H rahimahullaah]while he was in hospital in the Shamaysee district, Jordan.
We went early in the afternoon to the hospital and asked if
they had a patient by the name of Shaykh Muhammad Naasir-ud-Deen
al-Albaanee, they looked on a whiteboard full of patients and sure
enough there was a Muhammad Naasir ud-Deen on the list in Room 332 (or
so, I can’t remember exactly).
We made our way up in the elevator and found the room, but
we were informed the Shaykh was sleeping. The Shaykhs’ grandson allowed
me to enter to see the Shaykh very quickly. In front of me lay a
handsome white man, with little hair and a full white beard. His
beautiful arms were stained with blue bruises from the injections he had
been receiving. Although I left quickly, I was determined to return.
Later that day I returned to find the Shaykh had woken up,
but one of his grandsons tried to prevent me from entering the room
saying that it was time for his medicines. I told him that I had
travelled all the way from Britain only to see the Shaykh and give him
salaam, so how could he refuse me entry.
My wife went into another room where she met Umm Fadl, the Shaykhs’
wife, and one of his daughters-in-law and some other relatives.
I entered to see Shaykh partially sat up in bed. I shook
his frail hand and desperately wanted to kiss it and him, but I feared
that he would not like it, due to what had reached me from some of the
brothers regarding his humility. The Shaykh looked very weak and could
hardly speak but he made a strong effort to welcome us.
I gave the Shaykh salaams, which he returned, and then I said, “Shaykh, may Allaah preserve you. I love you for the sake of Allaah.”
He said, pointing to the sky, “May the One for whose sake you have loved me, love you.”
I said, “Shaykh I have come from Britain.”
He said, “Do you have Salafees there?”
I said, “Yes Shaykh there are many, Alhamdulillah.”
He said, “Do you have ulemaa [Scholars] there?”
I said, “No Shaykh, there are no ulemaa but we have
brothers from Madeenah university who have translated many books and
tapes. And we have links with Shaykh Rabee’ [hafidhahullaah], Shaykh
Muqbil [d. 1422 H rahimahullaah] and some students of knowledge visit us
from Saudi, Kuwait and Jordan, and they give us duroos.”
He said, “When will you make hijrah [migration to the Muslim land]?”
I said, “As soon as I can, Shaykh.”
He said, “Make hijrah to the land of the Muslims!”
I said, “Yes Shaykh, I intend to go to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
He said, “May Allaah reward you.”
I replied, “And may He reward you.”
With that, I gave the Shaykh salaam as his medicines were
brought, and we left, grateful to Allaah for granting us such a
blessing. Three months later the tragic news of the Shaykhs’ death reached us in England.
O Allaah have mercy on
him, elevate his name up until the Last Day, give him peace and comfort
in his grave, grant us love of him, and give us strength to hate whoever
hates him, and make his efforts beneficial for him on that Day : The
Day on which neither wealth nor offspring will be of any benefit, except
the one who comes with a sound heart. Ash-Shu’araa : 88,89
And those who came after them say : “Our
Lord! Forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us in Faith, and do
not put any hatred in our hearts against those who have believed. Our
Lord! You are indeed full of kindness, Most Merciful.” al-Hashr : 10
And in this are many lessons :
1) Amongst them the great humility, warmth and kindness of the Shaykh towards us.
2) Also the concern the Shaykh had for Salafee’s around the world and his asking about them.
3) His concern for the Salafee’s to be linked to ulemaa.
4) Amongst them his strong advice to make hijrah to the lands of the Muslims.
5) Also the extent of his mercy and care, whereby he made duaa for us many times.
And all of this despite the severity of his condition at that time. And I am sure there are many more.
And we live in a time where the scholars are few and
ignorance is widespread, so it is in our interests to travel to the
Imaams of the Sunnah who are still alive today, the likes of Shaykh
Rabee[hafidhahullaah], Shaykh Ahmad [hafidhahullaah], Shaykh
Zayd [hafidhahullaah], Shaykh Saaleh al-Fawzaan [hafidhahullaah], Shaykh
Ubayd [hafidhahullaah]and other than them, may Allaah preserve them
all. [aameen]
Contemplate this matter before it’s too late, since travelling to visit the Imaams of the Sunnah was the way of our noble Salaf.

Lessons and advice of Shaykh Albanee (Rahimulaah) ; Humbleness of Shaykh Albanee (Rahimullah); Life and Noble Character of Shaykh Albaanee (Rahimullah); Last moments of Shaykh Albaanee (Rahimullah); Who is Shaykh Albaanee (Rahimullah)?
It was narrated upon Shaqeeq al-Balkhi (rahimahullah) that he said to Hatim:
“You have accompanied me for a while so what have you learnt from me?”
He said:“ I have learnt from you 8 things:
Firstly: I looked at the
creation and found that every person has something which is beloved to
him and when he reaches his grave this beloved thing is cut off from
him. So I have made my beloved, my good deeds so that it will remain
with me in the grave.
Secondly: I looked at the saying of Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala) :
“And as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires and lusts”
So I strove against my soul defending it from desires until it settled upon obedience to Allah.
Thirdly: I saw that
everyone who has something precious safeguards it (with much care), so
then I looked at the saying of Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala):
“And that which you have will perish and that which is with Allah will remain”
So whenever I came across something which I found to be precious I directed it to Him so that it will remain with Him for me.
Fourthly: I saw that the
people were depending upon their wealth, nobility and dignity, which
are all nothing (in reality) so I looked at the saying of Allah
(subhaanahu wa ta’aala):
“Indeed the most honorable of you in the sight of Allah are those who are most pious amongst you”
So I proceeded upon taqwa in order to gain an honorable standing with him (subhaanahu wa ta’aala) .
Fifthly: I saw the people being jealous of each other so I looked at the saying of Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala):
“We have divided between them their livelihood”
So I abandoned jealousy because it is in opposition to the destiny of Allah.
Sixthly: I saw them having enmity between themselves so I looked at the saying of Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala):
“Indeed the Satan is an enemy for you so take him as your enemy”
So I abandoned this enmity and took the shaytaan as my sole enemy.
Seventhly: I saw them resorting to shameful measures in search for provision so I looked at the saying of Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aala):
“And there is not a creature on the Earth except that Allah provides for it”.
So I engaged myself (in establishing) His
rights that He (subhaanahu wa ta’aala) has over me and entrusted what
is mine, with him, in assurance of his promise.
Eighthly: I saw them
relying (solely) upon their trade and products and strong healthy bodies
but I put my trust in Allah the lord of the worlds.

8 Golden advice; 8 precious advice; Eight guidance; Golden verses of Quran; Eight advice of a Scholar; Golden words of a Scholar; Golden advice by Shaykh
When the Shaikh served as president of
the Islamic University of Madeenah, he didn’t abuse his position and
take it as an opportunity to oppress the workers and employees. Shaikh
Hammaad Al-Ansaaree relates: “I went to the University at the time of
‘Asr when Shaikh ‘Abdul-Muhsin served as its president. And there would
be no one in the University except for him and me. So I said to him:
‘Why don’t you bring someone who will open the University for you before
you come?’ He replied: ‘I will not make anybody work at this time
because it is a time of rest.’ This was at the time of ‘Asr.”
One graduate from the University related
that when the Shaikh was president there he would not like to stop the
university car on the road to buy things for the house. Meaning: Since
the car was just to take him to and from work, he would not like to
abuse this by using it for personal reasons.
On another occasion, when his term of
presidency ended, his driver saw him standing on the street waiting, so
he passed by him as usual and offered to take him home, but he replied:
“I wouldn’t think of it. My term as president has ended and I called my
son to come and get me.”
A great President, deeds and acts of University President, Example and Model for world leaders and President
And recite (O
Muhammad) to them the story of him to whom We gave Our Ayat (proofs,
evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), but he threw them
away, so Shaytaan followed him up, and he became of those who went
astray.
(Soorah Al A’raf 7:175)
Shaykh Fawzan:
This man was a scholar from the children of Israel. “Him to whom We gave Our Ayat”. He
was a scholar from the children of Israel. And he was a person whose
supplication was answered, because he knew the greatest Name. He knew
Allah’s greatest Name, which if called upon with this name He will
answer the supplication. He was a worshipper and he was a scholar, and
he was a person whose supplication was answered. His name was Bu’laam;
Bu’laam ibn Baa’ooraa’.
Thus Musa—peace be upon him—and the
children of Israel fought the military campaign during the battle for
Baytul Maqdis to conquer it and take it from the hands of the pagans,
the likes of the Canaanites and the Amalekites.
So the enemies who Musa were fighting
against came to Bu’laam, this scholar. They were afraid of the Muslims,
they were afraid of Musa peace be upon him. They came to Bu’laam
requesting that he supplicate to Allah against Musa and against the
Muslims. They requested this from him because his supplication was
accepted. At first he rejected their request. He refused and rejected
them. Then they convinced him, perhaps giving him some wealth. At this
point he supplicated against Musa. Thus Allah the Exalted disgraced him
and removed the blessing from him.
And
recite (O Muhammad) to them the story of him to whom We gave Our Ayat
(proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), but he
threw them away, so Shaytaan followed him up, and he became of those who
went astray.
وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَاهُ بِهَا
And had We willed, We would surely have elevated him therewith
Meaning with the Ayat.
وَلَكِنَّهُ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ
But he clung to the earth
He did not want elevation and might (from Allah)
أَخْلَدَ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ
He clung to the earth and followed his own vain desire
So
his description is the description of a dog: if you drive him away, he
lolls his tongue out,or if you leave him alone, he (still) lolls his
tongue out.
The dog always dangles its tongue out,
whether it’s in the shade or the sun, if it is riding or walking; it
dangles its tongue out. Thus Allah likens this man to a dog, the vilest
of animals. And with Allah refuge is sought.
Despite the fact that he was a scholar
etc.; but when he threw away the Ayat of Allah, Allah removed it from
him. He threw away the Ayat of Allah and obeyed the pagans, and
supplicated against the friends of Allah; thus Allah the Exalted
punished him. Allah punished him. This is proof that whoever obeys the
disbelievers and assists and aids them against the Muslims is similar to
Bul’aam; he is similar to Bul’aam ibn Baa’ooraa’, he has thrown away
the signs of Allah.
A downfall of a scholar; Deviated and greedy Scholar; Story of a Famous greedy man; deeds which lead to destruction
His nourishment was the remembrance of Allah – A reminder by Shaykh Fawzan
ByAbdurRahman.Org
Imaam ibn Al Qayyim—may Allah have mercy upon him—said:
He went to his Shaykh—Shaykh of Islam ibn
Taymiyyah—because he wanted to speak to him about something, or to take
knowledge from him. So he found him siting remembering Allah. He was
too afraid to speak to him until he finished from the remembrance of
Allah. Then he turned to him and said: How long have you been here? He
said: Since such and such a time and I am waiting. Thus the Shaykh (Ibn
Taymiyyah) may Allah have mercy upon him said: ‘This is my breakfast, if I do not take my breakfast, I would not have strength to work that day’.
Thus his portion of remembrance was his
breakfast which gave him strength to deal with work during his day; may
Allah have mercy upon him. And this is how the Muslim is.
For this reason he (Ibn Taymiyyah) said:
‘Verily to Allah belongs a paradise in this world, whoever does not enter it, will not enter the paradise of the next life’.
Meaning the remembrance of Allah سبحانه
وتعالى, it is paradise in this world because it relaxes the Muslim and
soothes him and expands his chest, and removes his anxiety and repels
the devils away from him. Thus it is a paradise. He enjoys it more than
he enjoys food, drink, and desires. For this reason, you will find if a
person does not say his portion of remembrance during the first part of
the day or the first part of the morning, or the first part of the
evening, you find him dejected and disconsolate. But if he adheres to
his portion of remembrance in the beginning of the morning or the first
part of the evening, you find him at ease with his chest expanded.
For this reason, the remembrance of Allah
always and forever accompanies the Muslim; in the morning, in the
evening, at the time of sleep, when he is aroused during the night or
while sleeping, and when he awakens. The remembrance of Allah is always
upon the heart and tongue of the Muslim. He is never able to do without
it.
This is in contrast to the hypocrite,
disbeliever, pagan and sinner. Their pleasure and enjoyment is in music,
instruments, plays, skits and comedies. They are not familiar with the
remembrance of Allah. For this reason He said concerning the hypocrite:
وَلاَ يَذْكُرُونَ اللَّهَ إِلاَّ قَلِيلاًAnd they do not remember Allah but little. (Soorah An Nisa 4:142)
They are not put at ease by the
remembrance of Allah; they are only put at ease by the remembrance of
the devil. We ask Allah for safety and security.
The remembrance of Allah connects the person to his Lord; as it comes in the hadith Qudsi. Allah سبحانه says:
أنا مع عبدي إن ذكرني في نفسه ذكرته في نفسي، وإن ذكرني في ملأ ذكرته في ملأ خير منه
I
am with My slave, if he mentions me to himself I mention him to Myself,
and if he mentions Me in a gathering I mention him in a gathering
better than his gathering.
Meaning: a gathering of Angels.
And Allah جل وعلا said:
فَاذْكُرُونِي أَذْكُرْكُمْ وَاشْكُرُواْ لِي وَلاَ تَكْفُرُونِTherefore remember Me. I will remember you, and be grateful to Me and never be ungrateful to Me. (Soorah Al Baqarah 2:152)
Thus how can the person do without the
remembrance of Allah, that which brings him near to Allah, and grants
him the favor of Allah mentioning him and lauding him in the highest
gathering?! These are tremendous benefits from the remembrance of Allah
عز وجل.
The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم gave the
resemblance of the person and the remembrance of Allah, to the person
whose enemies came out in quick pursuit of him, desiring to kill him.
Thus he took shelter in a strong fortress, and thus he was saved from
them. He said: ‘Likewise is the remembrance of Allah, it is the fortress
of the Muslim.’
This is what protects him from his
enemies, from the devils of man and jinn; thus it is necessary for the
Muslim to adhere to the remembrance of Allah with his tongue, his heart,
and his actions.

The story of Imaam Malik and his student – Explained by Shaykh Salih Aali Shaykh
ByAbdurRahman.Org
Shaykh Salih Aali Shaykh:
Imaam
Malik—was reading in the Masjid, narrating the hadith of the Prophet
عَلَيْهِ الصَّلاَةُ والسَّلاَمُ—and with him was Yahya ibn Yahya Al
Layth the narrator of his Muwatta—he and the other students were around
Imaam Malik.
A caller screamed out: Great elephants have come to Al Medina!
The people of Al Medina had not seen
elephants because elephants do not live in this country. All of the
students rushed to see the elephants and they left Malik; except for
Yahya ibn Yahya Al Layth; only.
Malik said to him: Why? Have you seen elephants before?
He said: I travelled to see Malik not to see elephants.
And for this reason Allah the Exalted
rewarded him such that the narration which is now spread throughout the
East of the earth and the West of it, and relied upon for the Muwatta of
Imaam Malik, it is the narration of Yahya ibn Yahya Al Layth; despite
him being from his minor students. There are narrations from people
greater than him, but it was not written that they be granted
acceptance.
